Just Wednesday I wrote to a friend of mine in response to his downplaying Obama's gun-control proposals :
You're partially right, the national push is going nowhere. The danger is in the states where they're enacting completely unconstitutional laws which will take years of court battles to re-establish their citizens rights.

New York set the tone. Given California's elected makeup I hold little hope for my rights being defended.

While all of it is stupid, will stop nothing and has nothing to do with Sandy Hook, pay particular attention to this: All weapons would have to be registered.

Why? Why do law abiding gun owners have to register ALL of their weapons? Single shot shotguns? BB guns? Why?

Registration makes confiscation easier, and I'm not talking in some internet hipster Reductio ad Hitlerum BS, I'm talking real world right here in the US.
