You need VFP 3.0 not 5.0 to be compatible with 3.0 on the Mac. Even so the compatibility is limited. Some very basic issues such as screen appreanaces are not as intuitive as they may at first seem. I'd recommend developing on the MAc and porting to the PC as the Mac version is the one with the limitations (thanks Mr Gates!)
While I hate to dis either VFP or the Mac, the implementation of 3.0 on the Mac does no favors to either. If it was your first exposure to either (or both ) products, you'd hate them!!

p.s. Have you considered running VFP 5.0 under SoftPC/RealPC/VirtualPC on the Mac?? of course that means you have to have a high-powered new Mac to get any speed out of it, but PC emulation might remove the need for biplatform development. But there again, it might breed a whole new set of problems all it's own.
