>>Probably true - at least in cities. We've got a chippie, an Indian and a Chinese in town. Also, partly I guess because the Ghurkas as stationed nearby, there are a couple of Nepalese restaurants in the area (plus a mobile one called 'The YakMobile' :-} )

>That's it, I'm moving there. The first three are all favorites of mine which do not exist near me. Fish and chips is not available anywhere near me (unless you count Long John Silver's, and you shouldn't). The closest decent Chinese place is 10 miles away. Indian is unknown. I do not miss my old neighborhood in the city of Chicago that much but it had the benefit of being close to the city's hub of Indian and Pakistani immigrants, with at least a dozen first rate restaurants. Around here it's all fast food franchises and middlebrow chains like Chili's and TGI Friday's. On the plus side, there are lots of good Mexican restaurants.

Oh, I forgot to mention ; we have a Mexican about 7 miles away. Not, strictly speaking, authentic (run by a Welshman :-}) - but good. Also a tapas bar and two Michelin starred restaurants.

Sadly, what we don't have within striking distance is a Thai - which happens to be my favourite.
