What is the link to that book again? If you're going to do something you may as well do it right. [UPDATE: That was directed at myself, not you].

When I was a pup of a programmer it was an IBM mainframe world. The book of the kind was "Principles of Operations". (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=isg26480faec85f44e2385256d5200627dee&aid=1). One of my mentors said read this book every day until you have it memorized; keep it at your bedside. I took him at his word and sometimes fell asleep with the P of O on my chest. Parts of it are still in long term memory. Which operation needs 4 registers? BXLE, of course.

>Nope, I don't think that. That's why they are "guidelines". I've read the entire guidelines book and it's helped my code get better. From time to time, I pick up the book and reread sections.

>>So you think these guidelines are *always* the best solution ?
>>I admit I was thinking more in terms of 'ref' and 'out' . Tend to agree re: named parameters.
