Actually the one my wife has does pretty well with VS2012 and SQL2012 on it.

I don't do anything serious on a laptop unless I have an external display (2 preferably).

If you want ultrathin and a touch interface, this is a serious contender.

If you want to do serious development with lots of horsepower and memory, you'll be really stretching looking for ultrathin and/or touch.
