There is a great scene in one of the Pink Panther movies. Peter Sellers walks into a bar and makes brief conversation with the bartender. Before sitting down he notices a dog on the floor and asks, "Does your dog bite?" The bartender says no. Sellers reaches down to pet the dog and the dog immediately bites him. "I thought you said your dog doesn't bite"! "That's not my dog."
