The most important things to know about Windows 8:
{Windows Key} + M gets you to the desktop.
Windows key gets you to the "UI formerly known as Metro" screen. Just start typing for what you want, e.g., "cont" without the quotes for control panel. It will likely come up with nothing found, but you will see on the rightside a list of Apps, Settings, etc. Click Settings, and you will find Control Panel in the icons that now show up.
That's really all you really need to know for navigating.
UAC is the same as Windows 7/Vista, basically. If you've solved that there, it's the same on Windows 8.

>Hi,

>I will be at a new customer site tomorrow installing VFP 9 application on Windows 8 Prof. I don't have Windows 8 so I am looking for suggestions on how to proceed (since Windows 8, as far as I know, has a very different user interface). Usually I install my VPF 9 app as following:
>1. Copy from CD all application files to the root of the C: drive as C:\MyApp\, C:\MyApp\Data, and so on.
>2. Run SETUP.EXE (built with Installshield limited) that installs VFP 9 run-time
>3. Create desktop shortcut to the application executable (e.g. C:\MyApp\AppName.exe)
