Not saying that. For programs I use alot, I have an icon on the quick launch bar and have it always visible. Fastest way to launch an app is from there. But when I need something that isn't there, I've found it's much faster to hit the Windows key, then start typing what want. I rarely have to type the whole thing. As soon as it comes up in search, I click on it or hit Enter (most often this is what I do). It's faster then searching through a menu hierarchy that is organized in some arbitrary way and applications in some folder that I don't remember. I rarely put icons on the desktop. That is not an efficient way to work.
