As the same business was not willing to deal with the late president (because he kept giving the wrong answer to "who is the rightful owner of your oil") and was much more willing to pour money into media to depict him as evil incarnate (for the same reason).

Funny, though, the same interests which claimed to be on the side of each country's independence (be it independence of former soviet satellites or ex-Yu member republics or even some provinces) are displeased when a president of a sovereign country behaves independently and isn't obedient. Double standards, tsk tsk...
