The keyboard is flat, in two parts (right-side and left-side division, like how the ergonomic keyboards separate it), and it has keys painted on it. You tap the keys on the flat surface to type, but you can also use gestures while typing to move the mouse, select text, click, double-click, right-click, and all from the flat surface by using the multi-touch abilities.
