When you get that sorted out, please do let the rest of us know how you did it. :-)

Actually, in this case I would agree ... the idea that source code which has been compiling for years, that it can suddenly be broken by a setting which should (at best) produce a warning at compile time ... it reflects negatively upon Microsoft and the Visual FoxPro designers that they would rather have it fail than produce a warning while it remains possible (and probable, given the fact that this is a default setting) that at runtime the code would've been valid.
