>FWIW, Utah is not alone in having obsolete law still in play- for example, Illinois state law says that a female companion shall call her date "master" in public unless they are married (at which point she can call him whatever charming epithet springs to mind?) ;-) while in Vermont a wife needs her husband's permission to wear false teeth and in Arkansas it remains illegal to beat your wife more than once a month. Also there are state laws against crossing a State line with a duck on your head or allowing a donkey to sleep in your bathtub. In Hawaii, it remains illegal to stick coins in your ears.

When my wife and I bought our first house we were engaged but not yet married. By law she was referred to in the sale documents as a spinster. You can bet I had some fun with that.
