Now come on - thread drift happened before. And some, if not most political beliefs and opinions are a lot closer to superstition than repeated checks of hypothesis on a scale measuring degree of scientific proof and/or thinking. Ricks POV is rather non-congruent to a lot of us here in that dimension, but he tries to pamper the thin skin of some feeling weird if religion is discussed.
