As a report writer, I prefer Crystal, but nonetheless I'd use SSRS with VS2010 or later.
Since SAP bought Crystal, the support for VS has been spotty.
Based on what happened with Crystal with VS2012 (It just didn't work at all for several months) I wonder whether future VS versions will support Crystal or vice versa.
