Most systems support MAPI faxing/email - comes standard with Microsoft Exchange. IDS Mail is another popular one and is compatible with Mail, Notes, etc. Basically the MAPI and IDS Mail controls are ActiveX and you can add them to a form or your application object to use them. Unfortunatly, the documentation is limiting but you can see their properties in the properties sheet once you add them to a form.

We've implemented our faxing/email with MAPI, it's free and most people can use it. Let me know if you need some specifics - I'll have to go diving into our code!
