We're using Kanban, and using it effectively.

One can argue that Scrum is only applicable to software, but it isn't. Scum.org is dedicated to Scrum as a software methodology while ScrumAlliance.org is about pushing Scrum in to business processes.

I've heard Jim Benson, a Kanban expert (http://www.personalkanban.com/pk/) and Richard Hundhausen, a Scrum expert (http://blog.accentient.com/) both talk about using Kanban for software projects. I personally know Rich as well as Agile experts David Starr (currently at Microsoft) and Alistair Cockburn (one of the signers of the Agile Manifesto) and can ping them to get a direct reply on it if you want.
