I bought this in spring of 2011. Probably will get something else next year but right now upgrading this one should be worth it as my only complaint is the HD speed.

>>Yes. This is an Ideapad. 17" screen, 1gb vidram. The Windows tell me the slowest part of the system is the HD so I am hoping the SSD will help.

>Yes, SSD should be better. Standard is now at 256 GB and I am looking at the 512 GB support but I might have to wait another month or two.

>>I don't think the Ultrabook will have a DVD bay so a second hard drive there might not be possible ( though I don't know - have never actually seen a Lenovo Ultrabook)

>Going external should provide all the missing functionalities such as increasing disk space, DVD and such.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
