I guess it depends on what you're testing, but unit tests ease much of the pain here. And with something like NCrunch, it all happens in the background as you type.

We also do a lot of client-specific programming. Each of these also lives in its own solution. So it is not unusual to have one of these client-specific solutions, the main solution, and my testbed each open in its own instance.
