I dealt with batteries earlier, so I have a good knowledge about that market. You would surprised to see how much garbage is sold when it comes to laptop batteries, and other types of rechargeable batteries. Companies in the far east buy returned batteries from the recycling companies, and does a quick visible inspection. The seemingly good cells are run through a quick test, and unless they fail completely, they are approved by their QA team. These cells are then assembled and installed into either washed used casings or in new copied casings. If any of these batteries lasts more than a few week, you are in luck. If not, they blame your computer, your charger or whoever they can. If you are really lucky, you get another similarly bad unit as a replacement. If this also fails, then there's no doubt at all, you need a new laptop.

Unfortunately that's how it works with all the "cheap" suppliers. But having said that, there are also many good suppliers, the problem is finding them. As a rule of thumb I would say that if they sell new computers from a few well known brands, they will most likely also sel good batteries.

>How would one refurbish a battery? That just doesn't make sense to me. But good advice.

>>Be careful buying refurbished batteries on Amazon. I bought one a couple of years ago and it was absolutely no good.
