>>Please knock it off, guys. Michel has poured himself into this site for over a decade. It is his life. Maybe he could benefit from a graphic designer but telling him flatly that you don't like the look of his site is like telling a man you don't like the way he makes love.

>Hey, we vote with our wallets here year after year, and we'll keep coming. It's mostly for the sake of newbies who may come in from the street, who'd get confused with things we take for granted (and those that we largely ignore - about half of the buttons on the toolbar have a centimeter thick cobweb in my browser).

>It's not that anybody here is advocating a total redesign of the messages area - it's absolutely the coolest one around, the only forum I know where you can see ALL the new messages without reloading any pages, hop between categories without reloading! It's just that it's about time some of the things which were a great idea at the time but then remained unused are moved out of the way. So the newbies aren't confused (and yeah, some of us, if we accidentally click on something we haven't clicked for years).

>I'm taking this as a suggestion that a spring cleaning is afoot. That would mean it's spring - which I'd really like to see finally coming. We're still on december temperatures around here.

'Tis spring, finally. This was a really wacky winter here -- no snow to speak of before New Year's Day (0.7 inches) and then nasty after that. I have been taking a couple of walks daily and everyone is smiling, pleased that it is behind us. I like it this way. I suppose it makes me countercyclical with so many people moving south and west. My view is that weathering the winters makes the other three seasons sweeter.
