I actually saw Gartner once say "Java is the preferred choice for enterprise development" then one week later say, ".Net is the preferred choice for enterprise development" (not exactly those words, but close enough). Yeah, that gives me lots of confidence in their predictions.

Gartner is about as objective as CNN. They have their objective of the week and they slant the reports and opinions to match.
