If you're running Windows, you agreed to the EULA. I'm challenging YOUR stance that you did not agree to what Microsoft collects.

>
>I am not complaining - I was disputing (1) your claim that MS use opt-in and by implication that Google use opt-out in the prior posts, (2) that MS do not collect and have personally identifiable information (which they most certainly do), and (3) that MS do not use this information for targeted advertising - your big gripe against Google - because they definitely do.

>All these companies collect all the info they can. And they use that info to target adverts (if that is part of their business model) and/or to promote additional products as well as presumably understand their user's usage patterns (which again will be used for commercial ends).

>I don't mind the product improvement aspect. I also don't mind the recommendations that Amazon give me. That is all business as far as I am concerned.
>
>But now I see the argument you wish to make is that the EULA was the opt-in ... hmmm OK. In that case Google also use opt-in since you agree by their EULA. Everybody uses opt-in by that definition.
>
>And as to whether MS use personal information to track you or not, I suspect you are not in that loop to know.

>>I'm pretty sure that Google's EULA gives consent to what I'm saying they do. The difference is, Google use personally identifiable information to track you. Microsoft does not.
>>
>>>Rather tell me the point you want to make Craig - it's less ambiguous.
