In 1966 they took away our M1’s and issued us M16’s. The Sergeant took us out to the firing range to introduce us to our new weapons. He filled us with all this great information which I will never forget: “No one hit with a .223 has ever survived”! Combined with the fact that we were young and seemingly invincible, was such a great feeling!

I must say that I have no longer have any interest in shooting. I was in the top ten in California small bore for several years. That was enjoyable. The .223 just reminds me of something I would rather forget.
