I want to have a custom method in the grid that I can use to supply the text to display in the grid column. Since the text cannot simple be created in one line I wanted to set the ControlSource to something like "This.parent.GetTheText()" but I always get an error that the method "GetTheText()" does not exist. Perhaps "This" is not usable in the expression so I wondered how this can be done.

The expression used is relative to the column, i.e. in it "this" means "this column". Start from there when counting parents.
