Last night I watched Lindsay Lohan as the featured guest on the David Letterman show. I came away with a different point of view about both of them. Dave has made many jokes at her expense, which they discussed. She is the comic punchbag of all punchbags. What was arresting was that she genuinely seems to want to save herself. Dave took off the gloves and spoke to her as one might speak to a daughter, genuinely concerned.

I give her a break because she grew up in Florida, basically trailer trash, with the stage mom to end all stage moms, thrust into fame and money before she had any idea how to handle it.

The first thing you noticed was how old she looks. She is in her early 20s and looks like she is in her mid 30s. I would like to think she has had an awakening. I believed she meant it when she said she wants to come through this. As an addict myself I think I know a thing or two about how hard it is. If you aren't an addict yourself, and I hope you aren't, it is something that can't be explained. She enters 90 day rehab on May 2. I hope it works for her, even knowing that addicts are complete liars. Some do make it through.
