>Rick, what is the purpose of Visual FreePro? I assume it is to have a xBase dev tool that is still in development. Why not just continue with VFP, after all it works fine on all versions of Windows. Or why not
http://www.alaska-software.com/ who seem to already have a working xBase platform (or work with them).
Visual FreePro introduces many features that do not exist today. You can read about many of them on my wiki (see the VXB++ and changes sections near the bottom of the main page index):
http://www.visual-freepro.org/wikiA few highlights:
(1) Its own new virtual machine (like Java or .NET)
(2) Edit-and-continue debugging
(3) Base class editing (at design and runtime while derived classes are in use)
(4) Multiple inheritance
(5) Support for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and Android
(6) Advanced forms and reporting abilities
And the big one:
(7) Sharing of developer talents and software with or without source code
It's called Visual
FreePro for a reason. There is a whole new philosophy at work here. It's not just another software language.
I will likely call the software
Village Freedom Project when released and for that reason. The meaning is explained on the wiki.
