>Hopefully this film will make a difference. 10 years and these 5 still haven't had their day on court - a great example of prosecutors who are not really interested in justice, dirty cops not doing their job, and a city that has decided to screw people instead of doing whats right.
>Everyone should watch the film.

I have read many good things about it. I am not a conspiracy theorist and have faith in police officers and and prosecutors until they prove otherwise. But you have to wonder sometimes whether prosecutors are more concerned with conviction rates than justice. A good start IMO would be not having to run for office, and the same is true of judges. We ordinary citizens are not qualified to judge them. We vote based on their party, their sex, their ethnicity, their last names. We vote not knowing much about them at all.

Twice I have been called to jury duty. The first time my number was a late one and the 12 jurors and 2 alternates were selected before anyone questioned me. The second time I was immediately rejected by the defenders because of my occupation as a computer programmer. They don't want analytical types, they want people who might be putty in their hands.

The interesting thing was that most of us wanted to serve. It's a running joke about how to get out of jury duty. Once you get into the jury room, though, there is a solemnity and seriousness about it that makes you want to do your duty as a citizen.
