Me too. I was very disappointed with Windows 8.

We've had zero compatibility issues except accessing the root directory contents.

LOL! :-)

I highly recommend running Linux 64-bit on new computers with 32-bit (or 64-bit) versions of Windows within. You can run older versions of Windows much faster than newer ones, and even multiple instances.

I have found it to be a fantastic solution actually. I typically run Windows Sever 2003 for my development machine, and Windows 2000, or Windows 7 for my other stuff. Using VirtualBox (which is open source), I can create 200GB hard drives that only allocate disk spaces as needed. Copying virtual machines from one computer to the other makes it very nice as well (Gigabit Ethernet or better is best, but 32GB USB stick is typically enough as well).
