A girl (about 20) was suing a Wal-Mart for damages, medical expenses, and pain and suffering for alledgedly being negligent about a spill that alledgedly caused her to take a dive.

Wal-Mart has numerous security cameras which made it obvious that they had taken proper precautions and cleaned up a spill (spill was gone and cones still up identifying wet floor). Cameras showed her and her mother take 2 strolls through the (former) spill area (and looking and pointing directly at the signs) before suddenly she is on the floor.

Her lawyers spent a week trying to drum up sympathy for her while trying to gloss over the obvious evidence. They tried to show her as nerve damaged for life and partially paralyzed (which was interesting because all of us (the jury) noticed her nervous habit of floating a coin across her knuckles and between her fingers on the hand they claimed was damaged - none of us could do that).

Bottom line - it was obvious the family was trying to shake down Wal-Mart using a sob story. No sympathy from the jury!
