Doug, is this feature you mention enabled in VFP9? How is/was Tommy able to use the INDEX ON DTOC(x) FOR... expression (x being datetime) to initially create the index if MS disallows potentially variable length keys? It only failed for Tommy on the update, yet I would think it should fail at all points if such a feature were enabled as a rule.
