The article says he's covered by his employer, Costco.
I don't know of any socialized medical systems that cover 100% of the costs associated with injuries like this. For example he may need to get his house modified/renovated to better accommodate a wheelchair, install a stair lift etc. Does the NHS cover all such costs in the UK?
Private medical coverage may be worse than public, or it could be better. Do you know the specific details of his case?
Public or private is still mostly likely to cover only "necessities". For any extras, I imagine donations would be appreciated.
