Luis,

IMO Craig has given you the best advice. Let me add, that unless you can build on a solid vfp customer base, existing customer code base or being a vfp expert I will not reccommend starting anything new in vfp. Yes, you could web-enable with the tools from FoxInCloud or Rick, the Visual Extend fwk goes Dotnet/Silverlight in a gradual way (Silverlight itself getting no more love from MS the last years) - still those are smaller companies. They often have very smart people writing code, but if you run into a problem with your code and theirs working together, it is much better if **you** can isolate the problem and define it for them clearly. Such tools make sense if you already have man-years of code you need to support and/or target for other devices partially, but IMO do not put vfp on the same level as newer tools with the current stuff targeting web and mobile when starting on a blank slate.

I'd go a step further and say unless you can target Wintel desktop only for clearly defined existing reasons, non-MS solutions are better - if you think your dotnet expirience is large, look into Xamarin and switch over to that, as C# is a nice language. The only thing going for MS tools is your expirience and them being often a bit slicker - but going outside your comfort zone might help you IAC, learning other languages and tools will help if you need to freelance part time and make you a better, more "rounded" dev.

And Jos is right - look at your customers wishes FIRST.

regards

>I know VFP, i am not an expert, but i know and i develope a simple Client Server application with SQL server i created visual classes too.
>3 years ago i started to study and develope some small applications .NET and SQL Server in my spare time
>What makes me feel bad is after more than 4 years of reading books, forums, and many many hours of programming in VFP , finally in 2006 Microsoft decided to not release more versions of VFP, i felt like my time was wasted
>
>In these last weeks i am amazed that in www.codeplex.com or webpages of german users or other companies make it possible not only to program in VFP like always, but we can develope web with silverlight, mobile applications, and in codeplex i foudn a tool very useful that imporve vfp reports, EASILY!!!

>Considreing that the coming year 2014, will be the last year for supporting VFP fro microsoft, adn considering the efforts wolwide by the users to improve VFPi want to ask you something:

>It would be a good decision using my knowledge that i have in VFP, to START developing commercial applications for companies, or even develope a VFP framework for my use or use one, because those software can be competitive with oher languages for at least next 10 years?
>Or better giving more importance in programming with .NET?
