>You live in a democracy. If the majority vote for gun control will you comply.

I live in a representative republic, so to be more accurate, if the majority support gun control and they convince their representatives to vote for gun control and the executive signs gun control and the supreme court upholds gun control, then I will comply.

>Perhaps your friend might not have been so brave if the person protesting had been large and male and offered to break his laptop over his head..

>But then maybe your friend had his gun so he felt a bit big and special..

So, if you own a gun you must be a little guy with that not so special feeling? Once again a wonderfully cute view of the world you have. Reminds me of the anti-sports car crowd and their "overcompensation" drivel. Heaven forbid someone enjoy something you disagree with they must be inadequate.

>MYOFB. is that the motto of the NRA ?.

It used to be considered normal. Nosy neighbors were looked down upon in polite society and made fun of in the mainstream culture. See Gladys Kravitz.

Perhaps my abortion comparison was too spot on to merit a response.

>>>Then you follow my logic incorrectly.
>>
>>Perhaps you stated it poorly...
>>
>>> How do you feel about being responsible for forcing the many people in your country who don't want unrestricted gun ownership to put up with your deadly hobby.
>>
>>Then again, perhaps not.
>>
>>WTF kind of twisted world view did that spring from? Are we now to obtain permission from everyone about their feelings on how we live our lives?
>>
>>This reminds me of a story related to me by a friend a couple years back. He was flying across country for a business trip. Once the plane was in the air and the captain gave permission, he pulled out his laptop and began working. The lady across the aisle from him asked him to put away the laptop as it'll interfere with the plane's instruments. He friend polietely responded that it will not and continued his work. The lady then flagged down a steward and was starting to get jittery while demanding they make him put the laptop away. The steward asked my friend if he would mind. He calmly responded that he has work to complete before landing so no. The lady then started to go into hysterics demanding that my friend is disobeying the flight crew and endangering the flight and so on. Other crew members came over to intervene and calm the woman down. They eventually had her swich seats, out of sight and
>>the rest of the trip went as normal.
>>
>>Perhaps a nuclear example will be more clear.
>>
>>How do you feel about being responsible for forcing the many people in your country who don't want legal abortion to put up with your deadly option?
>>
>>>Whats your message for them.It seems from here to be "tough I don't care about you".
>>
>>Message : I don't care about you or your irrational fear, however, I care very deeply when a group of people who share your irrational fear attempt to restrict my liberty and my life.
>>
>>A better message : MYOFB and I'll mind mine.
>>
>>>>>I think they are worried that when Obama creates the Socialist republic of America gubmint agents will come after all the good old boys with guns if they've had to give their addresses and prove they aren't mad as a bag of spanners...
>>>>
>>>>If I follow your logic correctly, gun owners are crazy until proven sane? What a lovely view of justice from the land that gave us the Magna Carta and the man who coined the phrase "innocent until proven guilty".

>>>>>>I think his message to them is "screw you"....but anyway what he's saying is ridiculous. There are a bunch of people every year that don't get guns now because of background checks - so it does have some effect already. Making it stricter would just filter out some more folks that shouldn't have them. Of course the sad part is if the don't pass the background check, they can just go to a gun show and get one because they don't do background checks there - and of course these dirtbag bought & paid for politicians sure as hell won't do anything about that. The whole thing is just sicking.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>>So whats your message for those who want some sort of solution. Or do you not think there's a problem.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>The background check would've done nothing to stop the next moody teenager or grumpy ex employee. Unless of course you're suggesting what I'm suggesting was the whole point which is to connect the 2 dots.
>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>Yes narrow self interest wins the day again. Obviously your gun owning culture is working perfectly so why bother to change anything.
>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>Heres to the next moody teenager or grumpy ex employee with access to arsenals of weaponry and a grudge to settle.
>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>I've said it before and I'll say it again, I wish the rest of the Constitution had as successfull a group defending it as the NRA does for the 2nd.
>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>In a major defeat for supporters of tougher gun laws, the U.S. Senate on Wednesday defeated a compromise plan to expand background checks on firearms sales as well as a proposal to ban some semi-automatic weapons modeled after military assault weapons.
>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>The votes were on a series of amendments to a broad package of gun laws pushed by President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders in the aftermath of the Newtown school massacre in December.
>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>However, fierce opposition by the powerful National Rifle Association led a backlash by conservative Republicans and some Democrats from pro-gun states that doomed some of the major proposals in the gun package.
