Refusing on the grounds of "advertizing" seems to be a form of censorship, especially if it's from others who make $ from the alternatives they propose. Sauce for the goose etc. Plus it previously was judged OK for VFP Conversion vendors to initiate threads for advertising purposes- iow blatant advertisement, not an in-context response as happened here.
