Rick,

if you have a piece of software, that can do a certain task fast (such as repair a table, recover a FXP, or churn some data), Is it inappropriate that I ask you to do me the favor to use it in a file or data set that I have?

I don't think so. If your piece of software is yours, and you decide to charge a fee for the service, that is more than welcome. If the piece of software is not yours, and the EULA says you just can't do that, then don't do it. But if the EULA says you can use the software to assist others (for a fee or for free), then everything should be OK.

Rules are clear, and I did not want to break them. So it is not inappropriate. If the EULA didn't forbid it, and someone would like to do me the favor, what's wrong? Haven't you made little works for free for people in the community? Many people have, why not do it?
I just don't understand your point.

You have in your mind the cliché of that programmer in a foreign country with little empathy about intellectual property rights, who try to pirate every piece of software, and who have never paid for a component or service, and who try to take advantage of whatever he/she can.
But relax, because that is not the norm.

Regards,
Javier.

>Javier, I'm sorry but I do feel it is inappropriate to ask someone to do this for you (and I feel that way regardless of whether or not it's actually illegal). I have many reasons for this. If you'd like to hear them let me know.
