>>How does that square with your COBOL advice to would-be money-makers - which BTW is accurate? I'd add that RPG is still a big money-maker for those who chase bucks.

We're taking on a gentleman who, at the age of 64, has his "drop dead" money but is interested in what we're doing. He spent the last 25 years supporting RPG in a big bank. Had a blast, earned the bucks, laughed to see the churn and bust in the cool dude market- meanwhile Cobol and RPG both saw serious innovation over his career but it was taken seriously with no tolerance for fads or gurus trying to talk up a market to earn a badge from a vendor. Strictly price vs benefit consideration. It's a fantastic way to work and it's why I want him on board.

>>In reality, John, if we can predict with any degree of accuracy where the action is heading, and money is a key factor, we should be picking investments, not programming.
So maybe this is the reason:
"The future, Mr. Gittes! The future!"

LOL, thanks for that start to the day, Mr Cross. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
