How about using the DisabledBackColor and DisabledForeColor?

As an aside, a pet peeve of mine is when someone says that a control is "greyed out" instead of saying that it is, "disabled". Arrrrghhhh. With the disabled object properties for color, I mess with their minds and change the disabled forecolor to red instead. Then they'll be telling me that the control is all "redded out"? :)
