A thought for die-hard VFP developers -

Having spent some real time on WinDev now, building real-world applications and the like it dawns on me something VFP developers need to really think about. No matter how productive you think you are in VFP, the modern tools, like WinDev, are so far ahead with built-in functionality that they outpace anything you are currently achieving in VFP.

For example, the table control in WinDev makes the VFP grid control look like something from the world of DOS dBase. It has so much power, functionality, pre-built options, features, settings that are all accessible with just a click on/off check-box or radio button that you achieve the desired result in a fraction of the time, often without coding.

So what I'm saying is that its not VFP vs. .Net or vs. whatever - it's that in VFP you are stuck in a tool that will be progressively further behind the curve whilst modern dev tools like WinDev will make developers continuously more productive with each release.

PS. I bought some training materials from http://www.sdcdev.net/ because for the relatively small price one can often pick up a few cool tricks, tips, techniques that make a world of difference. It's worth the money if you go the WinDev route. When you see what some of these controls do for you out of the box you really doubt the productivity argument of VFP developers.
