>>>The problem is that very few VFP developers have experience in C/C++ and no one other than a VFP developer would be interested in this project.

>Hit the nail on the head IMHO. In truth there are fewer and few people with C++ experience, period- at least not the experience needed to do something like this. Calvin already was exceptional a decade ago and it's more pronounced now. Which is why IMHO Rick should be doing this for Mobile. There's as much need for Access or FP on mobile as there was on the PC in the early 1990s and that's where the $ is going- e.g. Priceline just sent out an email offering $10 discount for bookings made via their mobile app rather than website. Normally I'd say that incentives mean it's a lousy product except that Priceline is encouraging migration within their own offering, from the internet where they made their fortune, to a local app on Android or iOS. I'm going to make the booking anyway but I get $10 if I choose the app. I'm betting it's much easier for Priceline to ship packets to an app than to serve up GUI pages where any slowness or glitches push people toward Hotwire. If the difference is worth $10 per room than the days of mobile browser apps are numbered IMHO. Seems to me somebody like Rick who already has a head start could be the next Dr Dave, but if not him then I hope it's somebody we know.

Visual FreePro consists of a software ecosystem:

(1) Virtual Machine
(2) Supporting DLLs
(3) Visual FreePro xbase code

The virtual machine is targeted to run identically on Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and Android. It has been designed so there is one module, called OSS (operating system specific), that must be re-written for the target OS. It can be compiled in 32-bit or 64-bit mode, and the way the virtual machine operates allows software to be running on Windows, suspended, then resumed on Linux, FreeBSD or Android, provided any supporting DLLs are available for that platform.

What I am creating does not currently exist in terms of generic, base software abilities, but my goals extend beyond just providing people with powerful software. I desire for people to share the fruits of their talents, which is mostly where the "free" came into the Visual FreePro name originally -- that we will all share our code freely, that we will all share our knowledge freely, that we are participating in a new community of people who, for the sake of helping people, reach out with everything we have to do just that: help people.
