Again, iirc, if I (as a private citizen) were to sell you (as a private citizen) one of my guns, there is no paperwork required for Texas. It is prudent, however, to get pertinent information on the buyer/seller to CYA. Bill of sale, ID verification, etc to make sure (at least at a cursory level) that you aren't buying/selling to a criminal. You can also get the serial number off the weapon and call it in to your local LEO department and ask them to run the number and see if anything pops.
