>>>And yes, auto deaths have been dropping over the last 10 years, and most of it is attributable to education and enforcement of existing laws. Why don't we try that with guns/rifles? Why don't we try to address mental health issues BEFORE a spree shooting looks like a viable solution to someone's problems? Why don't we try enforcing existing laws before we go creating other laws that we can't enforce? Why don't you put the time and energy spent calling the rest of us stupid stupid STUPID towards one of those goals?

>>First of all I haven't called anyone stupid - just some of the things they say stupid - big difference.

>>"there have been 900,000 shooting deaths over the last 30 years - but I don't think we need more gun laws".

>ummm....yeah, actually you did. I believe the statement was (and I paraphrase because I haven't been able to find the specific post) something like "This people are stupid stupid STUPID when they say we have enough gun laws"

uhhh...no what I said was that this is a stupid stupid stupid thing to say.

>And I'll repeat - there have also been approx. 900,000 knifing deaths, but I don't think we need knife control laws beyond what we already have.
>There have also been approx. 400,000 beating deaths, you want to start passing laws restricting when you can make a fist or pick up a piece of wood/metal/etc?

ya know repeating stupid comments doesn't make them any less stupid. Gun is not a knife is not a fist is not a piece of metal. It's incoherent arguments like this which causes nothing to actually get done to fix the problem.
