The only code I write these days is for art projects, so I get to avoid most of it.

When I do peer into the business world I see all the focus on test driven, source control, documentation, 'agile' methodology and a bunch of things I would consider secondary to code. I just like to write code.

Although, it seems the mess is not so messy these days. Use javascript, pure and simple.

I use Java for some things (Google App Engine and Android) but other than that the browser is the only useful part of the software stack to program to anymore.
