You can fake it with one of the Dynamic properties. Take a property you probably won't use, and set it to a function. Have the function set the button's caption for the row, but return the default value for the property. When the grid is drawn the button will be drawn with the appropriate caption.

There is some oddities with this approach, such as the caption for all of the buttons temporarily changing to the current record if the button is held down, but there aren't a lot of other options in VFP.
