>I got the same experience. US customs are horrible. One time I did not understand the directions of the customs agent and walked through curstoms without checking there and next thing I was escorted by two agents and a dog in a very incomfortable (and disrespectful) way. When I travel from amsterdam to the US I usually get interviewed in amsterdam. Filling in the visa 48 at hours in advance, the sometimes horrible lines before customs (once I spend 90 minutes waiting in line in Atlanta).

When my daughter was 1 day short of one month old (she became 1 month old in the plane) we traveled to Argentina, and while in Canada (and even in Argentina to a lesser degree) they gave us preferential treatment everywhere, in LA was just terrible: 3 hours) standing with our daughter on our arms on a huge line for customs, they did not allowed us to go to the washroom for whatever reason and when we asked we were barked at, the funny thing is that the plane departed from a different terminal (and nobody told us how to get there, barked at again) and we went outside to make the change, so we could've easily go somewhere else instead of running (did I say they left us on our own very few minutes before the departure of our train?) to take our plane. (This was pre 9-11, 1999 to be exact)
