I am using version 5. Send me your DLL and I shall test it with my Install Shield.

>I downloaded the latest trial version of InstallShield (2012 Spring). I created a test project and only included the xicr50.dll and set the registration type to "Extract COM information". After I run the install (as an Administrator) I get the following from the log:
>
>Extracting COM data from 1 component(s)
>ISEXP : warning -4354: The build was unable to extract COM information from the file C:\VFP\CRYPTOR\XiCr50.dll in coms ponent XiCr50.dll. Please ensure that the file is self-registering and verify that the self-registration process does not fail.

>>I'm using Install Shield 2011 Express Edition. Works perfect on all versions of Windows. Set the DLL properties to Extract COM information. But it's possible that your old IS simply doesn't know how to register DLLs in Win8.

>>>I actually tried to create an Installshield installation that only installed the Cryptor dll. That didn't work either. It went thru the installation with no errors, but I couldn't activate Cryptor from VFP. The problem may be that I'm using an old version of Installshield (Installsheild x version 10). What version of Installshield have you had success registering the Cryptor dll?

>>>>Tim, you need to install the DLL using a proper installer package like Install Shield. All those hacks of manually trying to register it tend to fail from Windows 7 onwards.

I've tried all of the things you've tried and get the same error message. We have been successful in registering Cryptor on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine by turning off DEP in the boot.ini, then doing the REGSVR32 xicr50.dll. I think the problem is that I can't turn off DEP to register the DLL in Windows 8. Windows 8 does allow me to turn it off for one file, but that doesn't seem to allow me to register the dll.
