For a while now, there have been 2 versions of MBAM: Free and Pro. There is only one installer. When you install you are asked if you want to install a trial version of Pro, and it is "yes" by default. That trial is time-limited as you have found.
If you change it to "no", then the Free version is installed, which is not time-limited.
If you are using another antivirus product that also includes antimalware I would not install MBAM. Running multiple products simultaneously causes conflicts and strange behaviour.
