Given that VFP 9 was released several years ago (before even Window 7 was released), would it be practical to use it now? If not, what alternative would you recommend for encrypting a string (e.g. a password in XML file)?

Hello Mike,
Good to see you here again.
One of the consideration is to use a 3P approach for encryption. I know that sweetpotatosoftware has an encryption library which I even tested long time ago. So I may resort to it. But I want to first try using the Hash routine that Gregory recommended.
Thank you.
