Microsoft was well aware that windows 8 and the whole metro idea was receiving negative feedback on the PC as soon as they released it outside of MS. That didn’t stop them from releasing it of course, MS believes that they can push whatever garbage they want out the door and force it down the throat of consumers.

Apparently that is what the next iteration of Win8 is going to do (code name Blue IIRC).

Win8 may become mainstream after that, although Microsoft's reputation will not recover. You just can't keep pushing Bobs and Vista and crap like that on consumers (unless you use Apple's marketing people).
