I ran four marathons but now I start out slow and then taper off.

Memory is an untrustworthy thing. I still have occasional thoughts of doing another one. Which is silly, because my knees can no longer take it. I was never more than a middle of the pack guy to begin with. 4 hours; solidly middle of the pack. The guy who could really run them was Whil Hentzen. His personal best was sub 2:40. That is faster than 99% of the marathoners in the world.
