It's ultra portable and leaves you with two free hands when you ride it. Thing seems pretty cool to me - plus since it's electric you can take it on buses, airplanes, etc.

Well that's part of the beauty of the thing - all you have to do is lean back a little to stop or slow down. I've watched a bunch of videos of people riding them in all sorts of conditions including some fairly steep hills. Keep in mind the thing keeps it's balance on it's own front-to-back, so hills should be just as easy as a flat surface.

Only thing that's kept me from getting on up to this point is that $1800 price tag. I know there is now something called and AirWheel which looks to be pretty much the exact same thing http://www.ebay.com/itm/Airwheel-Self-Balancing-Electric-Unicycle-/261213713086?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd18cf2be although it's almost $1,000 cheaper and you can swap the battery out in it easier than the solowheel.
